additional ooc explanation

Despite what the other post said, the Overseer is a special role in that they truly did not have their memories tampered with at all. Your acceptance was more contingent on being an AU because... They are! Your character was not subjected to the memory modification program, and has all of their memories of their lives in the Fallout universe before the bombs dropped. They do not believe that they're a "canon" character, and it's definitely to your character's advantage to pretend to have been effected, AKA, play your character as you normally would!

This is your chance to make an AU history for them as detailed or as simple as you'd like, but we encourage you to think about how the character came to accept their job as Overseer, what their life was like before they entered the Vault, etc. If you have any questions or need help creating an AU, please ask!

The idea that the mods have for the Overseer (and why we picked your character in particular) is that they'll likely have some kind of conflict over what they should do here. In theory, their role is to facilitate the experiment, and upon its successful completion, they and a handful of others will be able to leave the Vault and start new lives. However, the Overseer is the only one that knows that outside the Vault, there lies a desolate, hostile wasteland, and the data that's being collected is useless, as Vault-Tec no longer exists. What they decide to do with this knowledge is ultimately up to you, but we hope that you'll keep that dilemma in mind hehehe... And of course, if you need any help facilitating playing your character under these circumstances, please reach out and let us know!

So for OOC purposes, the Overseer's role is to keep the scientists in line and work to make sure the game continues. If scientists get "out of line" in any way, the Overseer may kill them, and they'll be given special means to do so. As such, if you would like to kill one of the scientists, please let us know and we'll discuss it further! Just know that depending on the circumstances, Judy (the Robobrain AI/NPC) may not be happy with those developments, so the Overseer may face some consequences if they're reckless with their power. No one but the scientists should know the Overseer's role, and no one but Judy should know that your character hasn't been effected by the memory tampering at all.

And finally, thank you for accepting the role! We hope that this is a fun opportunity for you to explore your character's moral limits, since that was absolutely my personal hope for the character that would fulfill this position.
