night seven - kill log
Who: Killers and Veronica Santangelo
When: The seventh night
Where: The operating theatre
[ No matter what you may have been doing, the deep sleep of the enforced curfew will eventually overtake you at 2AM. It's not clear just how much time has passed, but when you wake, you're certainly not in your room. You're in a room that you've never seen from the other side, and the drowsiness of whatever keeps you asleep is still making you sluggish as it fades away. The only thing familiar here is that about half a landing up, you'll see an overhead door that might be familiar.
However, this might not be as important as how Judy's voice suddenly speaks up. ]
All of the arrangements have been made, and databanks are recording. You may begin, science team. You'll find your requested tool next to the subject.
[ A tool? If you look around for what that might mean, it might be obvious.
On a surgical tray right next to you, you'll see a battle axe. ]

Judy's voice cuts through the haze, the word "science team" making her wary. Scientists are normally good people. Before she came here, she had been following the word of the Followers of the Apocalypse. Scientists and doctors, coming to the aid of others. Spreading good around the Mojave. Yet all she could feel was a sense of dread, as she's in a room with no idea where she is.
Still in her tired state, she knows this can only mean trouble. She takes a deep breath and prepares herself for whoever may appear. And when she sees the axe she makes a grab for it -- though her strength isn't quite what it normally is.]
Giving me some kind of drug to slow me down is pretty fucking cheap. [She shouts out to the room, unsure who is even around.] Can't fight me on even ground, assholes?
no subject
The voice that she hears is familiar, and calm as it ever is.]
I would like to make this swift if I can. I do respect you, Veronica.
no subject
Ava. So much for not killing me in my sleep huh?
[What was once a small joke now seems sinister.]
no subject
[Still, Veronica is too able for her liking, even with the drugs in her system. Though she holds the axe upright, she speaks not to Veronica this time, but to Judy.]
Judy, please administer another electric shock through Veronica's ankle monitor. Enough to debilitate her temporarily.
[As she speaks, she watches the other woman carefully, weighing her movements so she isn't taken by surprise. She may not have any experience with a weapon like this one, but she doesn't appear frightened either.]

[ Judy's voice filters out smoothly, just as calm as ever. A moment later, Veronica will feel a sharp jolt travel up her leg as the ankle monitor activates to send a sharp enough shock to get her stumble. ]
no subject
[And then the shock comes bringing Veronica down to a knee from the sheer sudden pain on the leg with the monitor. She hisses, gritting her teeth, and forces her leg limply up past the shocks - though she knows if she moved any further she wouldn't be able to take the pain. All she can do is stand in her spot.]
Goddamn coward! Using an axe, drugging and shocking me. If you're really the best your team has to offer, then you're a pathetic lot. [She swallows, shallow breaths coming out.] Not that the bar was ever set high for a bunch of child murderers.
[The pain beginning to overwhelm her. She's in no condition to fight back so long as Ava is at a distance, but she won't cower or beg. It's like she told everyone yesterday at the trial - she does not fear death.]
no subject
I did not lie when I said I would like to make this go quickly, Veronica. I will strike somewhere fatal immediately if you tell me how and why you were outside your room when I came to find you.
[At the same time, she takes a few steps closer, a step or two outside of Veronica's range of motion. If she refuses, she knows she will have to act quickly before the pain from the shock wears off.]
no subject
[Then suddenly she spits in Ava's general direction, not having the strength to do much else.]
Go fuck yourself. I'm not telling you anything.
[If Ava doesn't know, then obviously the Staff had nothing to do with it. She might be about to die, but she won't give over information. A fast death, a slow death. Either way, it is what it is.]
no subject
I thought that might be your answer.
[She aims for one of Veronica's arms first.]

When Ava raises the axe and begins to swing, that's when Veronica seizes her only opportunity to survive. She pushes off the ground, throwing her weight toward Ava as the axe comes down. There are consequences - the blade slams right into her arm, just below her shoulder - and she can feel her body hitting its limits, but she isn't going to make this easy.]
no subject
She goes down. The breath is knocked out of her, a foreign sensation, but she doesn't stop moving for long despite the flare of pain in her back and strange sensation in her lungs. One hand goes for the axe, and the other shoots out towards one of Veronica's eyes. Of course, this means both her hands are occupied, and she's fairly defenseless.]
Judy. Another shock.
no subject
Her arms are weak, and one is bleeding out and turning useless, but she still manages to get her hands on top of Ava's neck. She pushes down, too weak to strangle but forceful enough to put pressure on the larynx - a feeble attempt to choke Ava.]
no subject
[Once Veronica moves to wrap her hands around her throat, Ava shifts to shove her arms away, to push the other woman off her. She has a strong survival instinct as well, and while she isn't physically strong, she's determined. She twists and shifts, trying to move away as she pushes Veronica away.]
no subject
The shifting and twists will manage to get the pressure off Ava's throat, as she can't form a real grip in her state, but Veronica pushes her legs tight around Ava's form in a refusal to be completely knocked off.]
Coward. [She pants heavily, trying to get her hands back on Ava's throat. Only in vain, as she can barely even see the girl in front of her now.] Give up.
no subject
I do not need to give up. You are dying.
no subject
The burst of anger makes Veronica see red and she lunges again for Ava's throat, this time her hands landing and going around her throat. But...nothing happens after that. The last burst of energy comes and goes, and Veronica collapses on top of Ava, hands still around her throat but with no pressure or strangle. Her body still moves slowly, life still there, but she is no longer responsive.]
no subject
She raises the axe and swings it down on her corpse, again and again. She was instructed to make this messy, and she means to. By the time she's finished, Veronica's corpse is in pieces, but still recognizable. Ava drops the axe down, wiping a bead of sweat off her face and leaving a smear of blood in it's place.
She gingerly touches her throat. The skin is red where Veronica pressed down her hands, and she'll have to hope the bruise won't appear until the trial is finished.]
