RULEBOOK

At the first trial, everyone will be given a rather boring looking pamphlet. However, the pamphlet itself is quite important, as it contains the list of rules that are meant to be followed. There are some parts that are generic safety briefs like how to perform the Heimlich, that you shouldn't run in the showers, not to smell strange chemicals, etc. You might have expected to receive these earlier, since it seems like rules for living in the complex at first, but reading makes it clear that these rules all have to pertain to why you were given the pamphlet here instead of earlier. It's about murder and justice.

GENERAL

A murder has occurred, which sends Safety Protocol 6227-A into effect. In the case of a murder, it is expected that residents work together to identify and bring justice to the murderer. This courtroom has been provided for that reason, and we hope you've brushed up on your debate skills recently. Judy has been designated as the overseeing judge, but residents are expected to find the culprit themselves.

Once you have decided who you think may have killed the victim, you may proceed through the door on the right side of the room to cast your vote at the provided terminal. The resident that receives the majority vote will face justice. Abstaining is a valid vote, but it is not recommended due to known bugs in the voting protocol software.

As required by Safety Protocol 6227-A, this handbook is also a refresher on the rules that you should have been briefed on upon admittance to the complex.

RULES OF THE COMPLEX

  • Each resident has been assigned a room which they are to share with up to three residents. Each room is permitted a guest, but occupancy of a room must not pass five people at any time, as this presents a safety hazard. Overnight stays are permitted, but must be cleared by Judy first.

  • For the sake of allowing healthy, restful sleep, a curfew is employed within the complex. Residents are expected to be in their rooms from 11PM to 8AM the next morning.

  • Automated meals are served from 8AM-9AM, 11AM-12PM, and 7PM-8PM. The meal dispensary is not functional outside of these hours.

RULES OF THE TRIAL

  • When a murder occurs, a trial will be held that afternoon for residents to determine who the culprit of the crime is. Judy will oversee these trials, but is not permitted to interfere or assist in any way. Trials will be held from 12PM to 7PM.

  • All residents are required to submit one vote per trial as to who they think the guilty party is. At 7PM, the votes will be tallied, and the majority vote will face judgement.

  • Abstaining is a valid choice, but a lack of voting in any way is a violation of the previous rule and will be subject to disciplinary action.

If your character is staying in someone else's room, please comment to this post to alert the mods by Sunday evening. An overnight stay that takes place during the night post in someone's room must be posted here! If it is not posted here, we'll be assuming that your character is in their own rooms, whatever that may entail for the night... Overnight stays on the other night may be handwaved, though posting here to let us know is appreciated.

Room stays are first come, first serve, so your request may be rejected if a room is already at capacity.

For more on overnight stays, see the rules post.
