scientists - nights 9 & 10
![]() NIGHTS 9 & 10 Unlike everyone else, you know exactly why you're here. You've been hired to do a job, and it's time to carry it through. Sure, it's a bit odd to wake up with all the residents you were going to be overseeing, but it doesn't really matter. Once everyone is asleep, you have a chance to slip out. After all, the curfew doesn't apply to staff. Once you've left your assigned apartment, Judy's calm, even voice speaks up from the ceiling. "Good evening. It's time to get to work..." She directs you down to the first floor, through a courtroom and an eerily clean room where there's a number pad. You know the code already: 6227#316. Down you go into the operating theater, and through it to the program labs. Here, you'll find everything you may need to carry out your work from the terminal describing that work to a wide variety of tools to be used in the operating theater. After all, none of this is unfamiliar to you. Since you woke up, you knew what you were going to be doing here. You just had to wait until the curfew was in place. The drugs that effect everyone else don't bother you, since you received your shot to resist it. Though, oddly, you know you have that resistance, but you can't quite remember when you got it... Welcome, science team. It's time to get to work so that you can go home all the quicker. |

he just looks fucking distraught, honestly. even with the bleeding and the bruises and everything. he was READY TO DIE. WHY DIDN'T YOU LET HIM DIE. ]
... You can't keep me here.

[wtf is going on]

No? Would I be here if I did? Fuck that little twerp.

His eyes narrow on Rhys, then look to the other two, then back to Rhys. Instead of saying anything, he holds up a piece of paper on which is written: Rhys needs to deactivate the biosensors so we can all leave.
Judy is listening. Don't say anything.
He gives them a kind of look while putting the paper down in case they want to read it again. He puts the pencil he has beside it pointedly.] You're not finished yet. [To Rhys now.] If you still want to die afterward, fine. I'll even kill you myself.

hm. ]
... How long is whatever you want me to do going to take? I can't be here any longer.
[ HALF HIS SOUL IS MISSSIIIIING etc etc yandere bullshit here ]

That depends on how fast and successful you work.

And if I don't? You know Angel could do this just as well as I can.

Can we take a minute to talk about what the hell we're supposed to do with you? You poke your head out for even a second and the rest of the complex will be looking to have it for themselves. They noticed an additional vote.
[ he takes the pencil and begins writing down on the paper so Ciel can answer a follow-up privately. ]
All? As in us or the entire complex?
P.S.: Thanks for telling us your plans like always. Real nice of you, asshole.
no subject
Surprisingly, he writes while he talks.] I know. Most of them won't be able to get to me. If there's anyone from the "medical team" or the "security team" left, and they have access to other areas, it's possible they will try.
The biosensors are what register five people for leaving. Judy has a job to do like us. It may be outside her protocol to allow us to tamper with the biosensors. I don't know if she would try to stop us. Rhys is the only one who can do it.
The error code Rhys bypassed opened the other doors on the power grid's floor. There's a medical room and a security room, both nearly empty. There's another room for communications, but there's no power.
Alice will try to get the others to vote for me or Rhys regardless of whether or not we're present. That's the biggest issue. They know Rhys is staff, not overseer. They'll vote for me now, I'm sure.
[He pauses with the pencil over the paper for a long moment, hesitating, frowning.]
There's nothing left anymore.

Sounds like you're safe for the most part. Going to tell me where I can look for you at night so that I know you're not dead, or...
[ also a shame that Ciel was pretty much devoid of any social interaction at this point. more and more time spent in this complex and this fucked up experiment he had signed up for, and he's realizing he isn't all too happy with what it does to people. regardless of the Overseer's intent, malicious or otherwise, he is still some boy that could no longer talk to anyone but a bunch of killers. ]
Are we even sure Rhys is going to make it much longer? There aren't enough medical tools to fix what happened to him. And I don't think he wants to be fixed.
[ he has his own problems with Rhys and the path he decided to take upon being found out, but that's another conversation altogether. Bigby instead studies the last few words written by Ciel, curiously scribbling a reply. ]
What do you mean, nothing? Nothing of what?

We also need to select a victim for tonight.
[her first suggestion would be elizabeth, but she feels like that isn't going to fly, so—]
Is there anyone who we suspect might have a role here?
no subject
It has to be Elizabeth and I'm not going to listen to Bigby anymore about this. He's obviously got a bias and the fact the asshole didn't even notice she was working with Jack that much, what the fuck?
[ he gives a shake of his head. ]
It's Elizabeth, no question. And Bigby kills her for dragging it out so long. If he just listened to us weeks ago, I wouldn't have had to do what I did.

But what tool would you like to give? Today's selections are: The Redneck, The Rock-It Launcher, and Plink. Though should you select it, do be careful with the last one... Please inform me of your selection once you have decided.
