SCIENTISTS & OVERSEER
WEEK 0

Unlike everyone else, you know exactly why you're here.

You've been hired to do a job, and it's time to carry it through. Sure, it's a bit odd to wake up with all the residents you were going to be overseeing, but it doesn't really matter. Once everyone is asleep, you have a chance to slip out. After all, the curfew doesn't apply to staff. Once you've left your assigned apartment, Judy's calm, even voice speaks up from the ceiling.

"Good evening. It's time to get to work..."

She directs you down to the first floor, through a courtroom and an eerily clean room where there's a number pad. You know the code already: 6227#316. Down you go into the operating theater, and through it to the program labs. Here, you'll find everything you may need to carry out your work from the terminal describing that work to a wide variety of tools to be used in the operating theater.

After all, none of this is unfamiliar to you. Since you woke up, you knew what you were going to be doing here. You just had to wait until the curfew was in place. The drugs that effect everyone else don't bother you, since you received your shot to resist it. Though, oddly, you know you have that resistance, but you can't quite remember when you got it...

Welcome, science team. It's time to get to work so that you can go home all the quicker.

chiseler: (you're gonna go far kid)

[About time he can stop pretending he doesn't know why he's here. It's a leisurely stroll once Judy contacts him and he follows the sound of her voice straight through to the program labs. From there, he parks in a spinning computer chair and proceeds to swing himself from side to side as he eyes his fellow scientists.]

So...fun little group we have here. [It's tinged with a little sarcasm, don't mind him.] You know, I'm kinda glad we're meeting this late. Less time locked in our rooms with groups of strangers right? [He spins in a circle like the true adult he thinks he is.] First impressions? Let's hear 'em.
alittlemaster: (And on the surface of the waters)

[personal profile] alittlemaster 2016-10-02 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Stop spinning in the chair and take this seriously.

[ he's READING THE TERMINAL give him a second. it's all coming back to him now.

he's also totally in his pjs so just know that but from the other side of the room from the terminal is a mimicking high pitched voice -- ]

Stop spinning in the chair and take this seriously. Wah wah wah.
alittlemaster: <user name=mewtube site=livejournal.com> (I'm in the middle of the floor)

[personal profile] alittlemaster 2016-10-02 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Unless you have something useful to give to us, you can stop speaking.
chiseler: (sets off an unsuspecting herd)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-10-02 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Define "useful"? [And he's spinning byeeee] We have what, thirty people we can pick off? Maybe start with one nobody's really gonna notice missing.

[personal profile] jackhole 2016-10-02 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[ helpfully pipes up here ]

Charles. Or Alice, the girl one. Or the guy one? Whichever is fucking sleeping in our room. Or... Veronica, I guess but she's nice to me so, no.
alittlemaster: <user name=mewtube site=livejournal.com> (Ay go and rock with it.)

[personal profile] alittlemaster 2016-10-02 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Charles. The Alice in our room is a fraud, but that would make it easier for us to blame her.

Also, it would be one less person to split for the bed.
jackhole: (pic#10153551)

[personal profile] jackhole 2016-10-02 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[ this is something they can agree on and rather spitefully, rhys nods. ]

Why does he even need a bed? He can sleep on the floor too. He's not -- he's not doing anything useful. Freggin' kids, taking up space. Yeah, kill him.

[ that really is his justification for charles' death apparently. ]

You do realize our overseer's a kid, right.
jackhole: (pic#9981101)

[personal profile] jackhole 2016-10-02 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but we're not going to like, kill our overseer, are we? Jesus, guy, [ he's going to condescendingly tap at his temple here now ] think about it a little.
puffing: (ᴛᴇɴ﹪ғᴜʀʀʏ / ɢᴀᴍᴇ ― o58.)

[personal profile] puffing 2016-10-02 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I have.

[ take that as you will. ]

turinged: (knowing them)

[personal profile] turinged 2016-10-02 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
None of them seem to stand out yet.

[she gives him a look about the chair spinning, but doesn't comment on it.]

What do you think of them?
chiseler: (and as you step back into line)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-10-02 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[He grins a little, making the chair spin a full circle.] I think we have a lot of interesting people out there. I've mostly been putting out feelers and seeing how they react to being here, seeing what they want out of life. Stuff like that. Gives us a better read on their temperament and how easily they'll go down.
turinged: (hungry for the histories they show me)

[personal profile] turinged 2016-10-02 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Interesting in what way? I have noticed several atypical personalities and mental states. Perhaps we could compare notes.
chiseler: (Default)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-10-02 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
You'd be surprised how many people are actually worried about somebody trying to kill themselves by jumping, first of all. But there's some nice types here, too, that might not last long if they aren't careful.
turinged: (all my life i watch them)

[personal profile] turinged 2016-10-02 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it would be more worthwhile to target those who are especially intelligent rather than those who are nice.
chiseler: (Default)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-10-02 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I had a lady tackle-dive me into the fountain at a trajectory that wouldn't hurt either of us and then express concern. Who says the two aren't overlapping?
turinged: (with my share)

[personal profile] turinged 2016-10-02 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[hm.]

Who was it?
chiseler: (Default)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-10-02 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
According to the profiles, name's Lara. You know her?
turinged: (hungry for the histories they show me)

[personal profile] turinged 2016-10-02 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't believe we have spoken.

A better understanding of the people here and how they think will most likely come when they are trying to decide who to condemn. Be certain to pay attention to everything said then.
chiseler: (Default)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-10-02 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course I'll be paying attention to that. And while we're here, the least I can do here is keep making connections to see how people tick. You talk to people, you get closer to them. You get closer, they're likely to show their hand. Sounds like an easy job.

Fun's one way of putting it. [ said with as much dryness as possible. they made for a colorful cast, really. and the fact that he is the oldest here does not bode well. what were their superiors thinking??? ...whoever those superiors happen to be. ] At least they're getting sleep one way or another. Kinda envy them.

There's a couple paranoid types here. They'd be good to try and crack.
chiseler: (life's a gas and it's running out)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-10-02 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[He sort of stares at Bigby for a moment, trying not to laugh.]

You'd know about the paranoid type wouldn't you? Which ones? [There's a pause then.] And you can sleep later, this is probably more important.
puffing: (ᴛᴇɴ﹪ғᴜʀʀʏ / ɢᴀᴍᴇ ― oo5.)

[personal profile] puffing 2016-10-03 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
There's a young British lady among us. [ Lara. ] She was pulling shit apart in the bathroom to see if we were observing. Not that she was particularly off about it, but... definitely something to keep an eye on.

[ he's just going to stare at Luke with a blank face when he brings up sleep. ]

And how do you think we'd be able to sleep, exactly? People would get suspect if we just pass out in middle of the day. Considering we're supposed to be knocked out like the rest of 'em...
chiseler: (another clever word)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-10-03 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah? Must be used to being watched. She didn't give me that impression when I spoke with her but I think she was more concerned about me drowning myself.

[He lifts both eyebrows.] I dunno, lie to them and say you're a narcoleptic? We're not working every single night, are we?
