SCIENTISTS & OVERSEER WEEK 0 Unlike everyone else, you know exactly why you're here. You've been hired to do a job, and it's time to carry it through. Sure, it's a bit odd to wake up with all the residents you were going to be overseeing, but it doesn't really matter. Once everyone is asleep, you have a chance to slip out. After all, the curfew doesn't apply to staff. Once you've left your assigned apartment, Judy's calm, even voice speaks up from the ceiling. "Good evening. It's time to get to work..." She directs you down to the first floor, through a courtroom and an eerily clean room where there's a number pad. You know the code already: 6227#316. Down you go into the operating theater, and through it to the program labs. Here, you'll find everything you may need to carry out your work from the terminal describing that work to a wide variety of tools to be used in the operating theater. After all, none of this is unfamiliar to you. Since you woke up, you knew what you were going to be doing here. You just had to wait until the curfew was in place. The drugs that effect everyone else don't bother you, since you received your shot to resist it. Though, oddly, you know you have that resistance, but you can't quite remember when you got it... Welcome, science team. It's time to get to work so that you can go home all the quicker.

You didn't have to make a fool out of me, July. How was I supposed to know I was part of this?

[About time he can stop pretending he doesn't know why he's here. It's a leisurely stroll once Judy contacts him and he follows the sound of her voice straight through to the program labs. From there, he parks in a spinning computer chair and proceeds to swing himself from side to side as he eyes his fellow scientists.]

So...fun little group we have here. [It's tinged with a little sarcasm, don't mind him.] You know, I'm kinda glad we're meeting this late. Less time locked in our rooms with groups of strangers right? [He spins in a circle like the true adult he thinks he is.] First impressions? Let's hear 'em.

Stop spinning in the chair and take this seriously.

None of them seem to stand out yet.

[she gives him a look about the chair spinning, but doesn't comment on it.]

What do you think of them?

[puffing]

Fun's one way of putting it. [ said with as much dryness as possible. they made for a colorful cast, really. and the fact that he is the oldest here does not bode well. what were their superiors thinking??? ...whoever those superiors happen to be. ] At least they're getting sleep one way or another. Kinda envy them.

There's a couple paranoid types here. They'd be good to try and crack.

[ Maybe Judy was working on paperwork when Luke started spinning around in his chair, who knows? But regardless, once they're all assembled, Judy will calmly speak up to welcome them. ]

Welcome, Complex staff. It's good to see you all together again. For the sake of getting things started, I would like to quickly review our staff. Our science team is composed of Ms. Ava, Mr. Bigby Wolf, Mr. Luke Castellan, and Mr. Reese Lastname.

[ Look, Judy may have a small petty streak, leave her alone. ]

Your overseer for this project is Mr. Ciel Phantomhive. I am here to facilitate the project and make sure things go as planned. If you have any questions or concerns, you may direct them to either of us, though matters of the facility should be primarily directed to me. That is all.

[jackhole]

[ throws the nearest thing at wherever judy's voice is coming from since he's not wearing his shoes. ]

WHO THE HELL IS CIEL PHANTOMHIVE.

[ rhys, come on. ]

[chiseler]

[He even stops spinning but the chair probably crashes into something else because what.]

Are you serious? Who decided that?

It is my understanding that children are more emotionally unstable than adults, and lack maturity. Would you elaborate on your choice?

[puffing]

[ this is Bigby right now, upon the realization that he is the oldest here by miles. please help him. or don't. maybe it's best to just let him sulk. ]

Unless anyone else has any good suggestions, we should all vote for Charles, the boy in apartment two. I questioned Alice's motives, and can use it against her for framing purposes. Plus, she's not staying in her assigned apartment, which will seem suspicious when someone from ours is affected.

For now, this is the simplest and easiest method.

[jackhole]

[ he has nothing helpful to add except -- ]

Also, he insulted my robot? Who, like, who does that? About a guy's robot? What kind of person do you have to be to insult a robot? Robots are like, a hundred times better than people.

[ a pause and -- ]

Yeah, humans suck.

[turinged]

What was her response when you questioned her?

[chiseler]

Yeah why didn't she stay in her assigned apartment? Did you ask her that? Could be good to know for the future too.

[puffing]

Not looking to ruffle any bushes regarding the Charles kid, but any reason as to why other than because of Rhys bitching about his bed?

[ just about any reason including no reason sounds plausible at this early stage. he was just curious as to what the fellow youngin' had against the other youngin'. ]

[ Once everyone has made their choices, the intercom clicks on again as Judy speaks. ]

I'm glad to see that things went smoothly in terms of selecting your first subject. Let's review test procedures...

[ She pauses as if she's collecting something, though there's no sound of her doing so. ]

Tomorrow night when curfew is enforced, at least one of you will proceed to Charles's apartment, which is Apartment #2 after 2AM. The sleep aids will have been dispensed at this point, so you will find the door unlocked, and you will not need to worry about waking the rest of the room. However, I will be watching, so please behave yourselves. [ reese ] You will bring the test subject to the operations theater and administer the antidote to wake him up. At this point, you will have your choice of tool, but I will need time to prepare it.

So, I will need to know which of you are volunteering to take care of this test, and which tool you would like. The available tools for the night are as follows: The Fish Catcher, The Rough n' Tumble, and The Hawk.

[ She says it completely seriously, like these are all normal names. There's a pause, and then she adds: ]

...And, no, I cannot tell you what each is. That would ruin the validity of the results. [ :) ] Once you've come to a decision on the "who" and the "what", I will begin to arrange things for tomorrow evening.

If none of us has strong feelings about who completes the task, perhaps we should decide on a method to choose whenever we convene. For example, we could take turns.
