SCIENTISTS & OVERSEER WEEK 0 Unlike everyone else, you know exactly why you're here. You've been hired to do a job, and it's time to carry it through. Sure, it's a bit odd to wake up with all the residents you were going to be overseeing, but it doesn't really matter. Once everyone is asleep, you have a chance to slip out. After all, the curfew doesn't apply to staff. Once you've left your assigned apartment, Judy's calm, even voice speaks up from the ceiling. "Good evening. It's time to get to work..." She directs you down to the first floor, through a courtroom and an eerily clean room where there's a number pad. You know the code already: 6227#316. Down you go into the operating theater, and through it to the program labs. Here, you'll find everything you may need to carry out your work from the terminal describing that work to a wide variety of tools to be used in the operating theater. After all, none of this is unfamiliar to you. Since you woke up, you knew what you were going to be doing here. You just had to wait until the curfew was in place. The drugs that effect everyone else don't bother you, since you received your shot to resist it. Though, oddly, you know you have that resistance, but you can't quite remember when you got it... Welcome, science team. It's time to get to work so that you can go home all the quicker.

Whoever decides to kill has choice of what to use. [See? He can be fair.] I don't care who does it this time; evidence will be destroyed, and we have a scapegoat even if it's one of the two of us in the same apartment.

Y'know, there's a gym for you to get some work done on your arms if you think that's going to be a problem...

[He gives Bigby a look.] I can always request one of the extra rooms be turned into a jail. You should be use to staying in one, correct?

[puffing]

A jail within a jail? Productive. [ maybe he shouldn't call his place of employment that. oh well. ] I've been on both sides. More used to throwing in little punks who don't watch themselves as of late.

If you can pick up Charles so easily, then maybe you would like to volunteer to put him through the assessment?

[puffing]

[ okay because CERTAIN PEOPLE have gotten him all incensed, he's going to loudly proclaim this to ciel now. ]

[chiseler]

[He's just staring for a moment...and spinning in a circle before he says:]

You're right, that's the best lie I've heard. [He's laughing to himself before he stops the chair.] You're messing with us aren't you? Sit down before you hurt yourself. [Never mind if Rhys is already sitting down.]

[jackhole]

[ why doesn't he have his SHOES so he can THROW THEM at people, holy shit ]

[ pouty muffled huffing as he gestures to luke. he follows it with petulant mumbling -- ]

He said I couldn't do it.

[ he honestly believes this tbh ]

You've been told by who? Where are these people? [Rhys? Stop? Gods you're an embarrassment.] I don't think any of us believe that, man.

[jackhole]

[ you are MAKING HIM BLUSH, castellan!!! ]

They -- they're not here right now. I, I mean. Jack's here but he doesn't remember but the other people, they're uh. They're at home.

[chiseler]

[That actually makes him pause.]

Jack...like. The guy who's building robot armies to kick the asses of the people trying to blow up the moon? [He sort of likes Jack so this gets him to shut up for a minute.] No, no wait. That still doesn't count and you know it.

[jackhole]

[ and now he looks delighted. ]

Yeah, that guy! We're... uh, we're close. He's a little mad at me because I broke his nose earlier but take my word for it, he definitely likes me. And has told me how good I am at killing people before.

[ he looks so disgustingly smitten that he's probably not lying ]

[chiseler]

You're close but you broke his nose…why? [He's lifting an eyebrow. He's not sure how Jack and Rhys could be put together like that, how Jack could take Rhys seriously but it also makes him think about his own life working for Kronos. Maybe Rhys is just working directly under someone smarter than him?]

Wait does that mean you're one of his Vault Hunters?

[jackhole]

Because he made me mad.

[ said like luke is a fucking idiot, actually, and when luke asks him that -- he looks incredibly offended. a hand is dragged over his face and he explains with the tone of someone trying to explain that the sky is blue. ]

What? No. I hate Vault Hunting. It's -- it's a god damn bandit's job. No, I'm owner and CEO of Atlas, a gun manufacturer. Jack's a programmer for Hyperion, they make guns too. Well, guns, bombs, etc. WMDs, basically. I, uh, [ a pause and he tries to find a good phrase for this. ] ... bought out Hyperion, so to speak. Jack didn't believe me, so I broke his nose.

[ which puts rhys higher up on the ladder than jack, actually. think on that, luke. ]

[chiseler]

[…you know what, that's fair. Luke's thrown bigger tantrums before so that's sort of fair. But he narrows his eyes because, um, fuck you. He doesn't know about your dumb tech and multiple planets and everything. Do you know how to steal the most powerful weapons of Olympus, Rhys? No? Didn't think so.]

Mercenary. Which, by the way, we have a couple of those around here. [But the look he gives Rhys is one that clearly says "who the fuck trusted you around guns???"] …you bought out Hyperion, or you took it another way? ["So to speak" never bodes well, friend.]

[jackhole]

[ shut up, who cares about gods when you have capitalism?? but rhys sneers a little, arms crossing over his chest and very specifically making sure his robot arm is in view here. it's not a threat, just an assertion of i know tech more than you. ]

[ vault hunting sucks and he won't budge on that fact. fiona was a bandit and she abandoned him and the thought still stings more than anything else. he wonders if it hurts more than jack's betrayal sometimes. ]

And what do you think? Point is, buddy, Hyperion's gone. Doesn't really matter how it went.

[chiseler]

[When your dad's the god of merchants who needs capitalism? He eyes the robot arm curiously, almost a little uncertain because he's not sure what this means, but he's not scared. Really.]

Whatever. [He lifts his eyebrows.] It matters a lot, actually. If you just bought them out, okay, any company can do that. But if you did something a little more interesting, I might be a little more impressed and think you can actually handle yourself here.

[…no he won't, but whatever.]

[jackhole]

[ on one hand, he wants to prove he's not talking shit by bragging. on the other hand, luke sucks. there's a twitch to his eyes here that's showing he's trying not to take the bait.

but ohhh, the bait's so close. he wants to take it. he's going to take it. so very flatly: ]

I killed all their employees, their CEO, and crashed their space station.

[puffing]
