SCIENTISTS & OVERSEER WEEK 0 Unlike everyone else, you know exactly why you're here. You've been hired to do a job, and it's time to carry it through. Sure, it's a bit odd to wake up with all the residents you were going to be overseeing, but it doesn't really matter. Once everyone is asleep, you have a chance to slip out. After all, the curfew doesn't apply to staff. Once you've left your assigned apartment, Judy's calm, even voice speaks up from the ceiling. "Good evening. It's time to get to work..." She directs you down to the first floor, through a courtroom and an eerily clean room where there's a number pad. You know the code already: 6227#316. Down you go into the operating theater, and through it to the program labs. Here, you'll find everything you may need to carry out your work from the terminal describing that work to a wide variety of tools to be used in the operating theater. After all, none of this is unfamiliar to you. Since you woke up, you knew what you were going to be doing here. You just had to wait until the curfew was in place. The drugs that effect everyone else don't bother you, since you received your shot to resist it. Though, oddly, you know you have that resistance, but you can't quite remember when you got it... Welcome, science team. It's time to get to work so that you can go home all the quicker.

[ Once everyone has made their choices, the intercom clicks on again as Judy speaks. ]

I'm glad to see that things went smoothly in terms of selecting your first subject. Let's review test procedures...

[ She pauses as if she's collecting something, though there's no sound of her doing so. ]

Tomorrow night when curfew is enforced, at least one of you will proceed to Charles's apartment, which is Apartment #2 after 2AM. The sleep aids will have been dispensed at this point, so you will find the door unlocked, and you will not need to worry about waking the rest of the room. However, I will be watching, so please behave yourselves. [ reese ] You will bring the test subject to the operations theater and administer the antidote to wake him up. At this point, you will have your choice of tool, but I will need time to prepare it.

So, I will need to know which of you are volunteering to take care of this test, and which tool you would like. The available tools for the night are as follows: The Fish Catcher, The Rough n' Tumble, and The Hawk.

[ She says it completely seriously, like these are all normal names. There's a pause, and then she adds: ]

...And, no, I cannot tell you what each is. That would ruin the validity of the results. [ :) ] Once you've come to a decision on the "who" and the "what", I will begin to arrange things for tomorrow evening.

If none of us has strong feelings about who completes the task, perhaps we should decide on a method to choose whenever we convene. For example, we could take turns.

[Please assume he's probably still rolling around in the spinning chair...]

For this first one it might be a better idea if we don't have Ciel and Rhys execute it? They're sharing a room with the guy and it's better to make sure there's absolutely no way it could be traced back to them. [He spins from side to side.] M'not saying our entire pool of participants is smart, but the less we give them, the better.

[A pause.] I like the idea of a rotating cycle.

To follow your logic, it may be best if someone who has never spoken to him does this. Have you conversed with Charles?

[she nods.]

We can construct one after we decide.

[chiseler]

I haven't spoken to the guy, no. But that doesn't mean that's the best solution either. Have you talked to him? Or anybody else that's sharing that apartment with them.

[turinged]

I talked to Rhys before this meeting, in one of the areas everyone can access. I spoke to Veronica as well.

[puffing]

Won't matter if they do or don't. The terminal's already told us all evidence will be destroyed. As long as they know how to lie, they can do it no problem.

[ a pause. ]

Judy can confirm just to be sure.

[chiseler]

Ciel I can buy as a liar but what about Rhys? [Sorry Rhys, but he's just wondering okay...] We haven't been given specifics how everything's going to be destroyed either have we?

[judgejudy]

Because you will be conducting your tests in the Operating Theatre, evidence will be destroyed during standard decontamination procedures. In addition, residents should never be allowed in either that room or this one.

Whoever decides to kill has choice of what to use. [See? He can be fair.] I don't care who does it this time; evidence will be destroyed, and we have a scapegoat even if it's one of the two of us in the same apartment.

...But I can't lift Charles by myself to bring him to the operations theater. [:') He may or may not be trying to skiiiiirt out of doing it by the hair of his tail.]

[puffing]

Y'know, there's a gym for you to get some work done on your arms if you think that's going to be a problem...

[alittlemaster]

[He gives Bigby a look.] I can always request one of the extra rooms be turned into a jail. You should be use to staying in one, correct?

[puffing]

[ HE'LL GIVE A LOOK RIGHT BACK. ]

A jail within a jail? Productive. [ maybe he shouldn't call his place of employment that. oh well. ] I've been on both sides. More used to throwing in little punks who don't watch themselves as of late.

[ not naming any names... ]

[jackhole]

[ okay because CERTAIN PEOPLE have gotten him all incensed, he's going to loudly proclaim this to ciel now. ]

I'm going to do it then. Because I can lie. I can lie better than the rest of you! [ no you can't, rhys ] And it's -- it'll be awesome and you can all shut up.

[chiseler]

[He's just staring for a moment...and spinning in a circle before he says:]

You're right, that's the best lie I've heard. [He's laughing to himself before he stops the chair.] You're messing with us aren't you? Sit down before you hurt yourself. [Never mind if Rhys is already sitting down.]

[jackhole]

[ why doesn't he have his SHOES so he can THROW THEM at people, holy shit ]

No -- I ... I can do it! Shut up, I'm really good at killing people. Like SUPER good? I've been told this, many times! By many different people! I swear, I'm really good at it.

[puffing]

Shut up, all of you! You're insufferable. Since none of you can agree on who will carry out the assessment, I choose Ava--the only one of any of you who has half a brain and can handle herself decently.

Ava has pick of what tool to use. The rest of you can watch her work, and maybe you'll learn something.

In the future, if my behavior is not objectionable, could you specify to Judy that I will not undergo punishment?

I don't care who started it. I'll punish everyone because you are all a part of a team.

If you don't want to receive punishment with them, then it'd be best if you make sure they behave so we can proceed with our goal in an orderly fashion.

Of course. I would be happy to take that responsibility from you if it is too much for you to handle, Ciel.

[puffing]

[ totally would have picked the Rough 'n Tumble, but that's a personal bias. ]

The first two sound more unpleasant to me. There was no logical analysis involved.
